What we do

Painting, top to bottom — inside and out

Whether it's one tired hallway or every square foot of siding on the building, it's the same job to us: prep it properly, coat it properly, and leave the place cleaner than we found it.

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets. Furniture gets moved and covered, floors get protected, and everything goes back where it belongs before we leave for the day.

Exterior painting

Clapboard, cedar shakes, trim, porches and barns. Scraped, sanded and spot-primed first, because a finish coat over loose paint is money down the driveway.

Commercial & storefronts

Shops, offices, rentals and apartment turnovers. Tell us when you need us out of the way and we'll build the schedule around it, so the work doesn't cost you business.

Cabinets, trim & fine finish

Kitchen cabinets, built-ins, stair rails, mantels and doors. Degreased, deglossed and finished smooth — the details people actually put their hands on every day.

Prep, patch & repair

Nail pops, drywall patches, failed caulk, wallpaper removal and the soft spots you find once the ladder is up. Prep is most of the job. We don't skip it to come in cheap.

Decks, porches & barns

Stains, sealers and solid-color finishes for the parts of your property that take the worst of a New Hampshire winter and the whole of a New Hampshire summer.

Don't see your project on the list? Ask us anyway — if it isn't our work, we'll tell you who to call.

How it works

Four steps. No surprises.

You shouldn't have to chase a contractor for a callback, or find out what's happening the morning it happens. Here's exactly how a job runs with us, start to finish.

The short version

We come out and look at the job properly, talk it through with you, get you on the schedule, and put the scope and the cost in writing before we start. Nothing about it should surprise either of us.

  1. 1

    We come out and look

Call, text or send the form and we'll set up a time to come to you. We walk the property together and see what the job actually involves. Photos beforehand help, but nothing beats standing in the room.

  2. 2

    We talk it through

Colors, prep, products, the order things happen in, and anything you're worried about. If part of it isn't worth doing, we'll tell you. No pressure and no discount that expires if you don't sign today.

  3. 3

We book the date, and put it in writing

We agree a start date that works for both of us, and we'll say so honestly if we can't hit the timeline you're after. Your written estimate comes through ahead of that date, so you know the scope and the cost before anyone picks up a brush.

  4. 4

We prep, paint, and walk it with you

Furniture moved and covered, floors and shrubs protected, surfaces scraped, sanded, patched and primed — only then does color go on. When the last coat is dry we walk the whole job with you, flashlight and all. Anything you're not happy with gets fixed before we load the truck.

Full exterior repaint

Keene, NH · Residential exterior

Decades of sun had chalked this clapboard out to a dusty yellow, with paint lifting along the whole south face. We scraped and feathered every failing edge, spot-primed the bare wood, and brought it back in a clean white with the shutters and sills picked out in black.

  • Three full stories, staged and hand-scraped
  • Bare wood spot-primed before topcoat

Why us

A small crew that answers the phone

Sully & Son's is exactly what the name says — a father-and-son outfit working out of Swanzey. You're not getting a call center, a subcontracted crew you've never met, or a salesman with a tablet and a countdown timer. You get the people who will actually be in your house.

  • No pressure, ever. No "today only" pricing, no bundled add-ons you didn't ask for. You'll get a number and the time to think about it.

  • Same faces, start to finish. You'll know who's on your property every day, and they'll know your dog's name by Wednesday.

  • Fully insured. Ask and we'll send the certificate over before we start — you shouldn't have to take anyone's word for it.

  • We clean up daily. Drop cloths lifted, tools stowed, floors vacuumed. You get your house back every evening.

  • We live here too. We shop at the same stores and drive past our own work every week. That's a pretty good reason to do it right.

Straight answers to fair questions

It depends on square footage, how much prep the surfaces need, and the products you want — and anyone who quotes you over the phone without seeing it is guessing. That's why we come out and look first. We'll measure, check the condition, and get you a written estimate before the work is scheduled to start, so you're never agreeing to a number nobody has explained.

Interiors we can usually start within a couple of weeks year-round. Exteriors fill up fast once the weather turns in spring, so the earlier you call the better your pick of dates. If we can't fit you in when you need it, we'll say so straight away rather than stringing you along.

Not alone. We'll bring fan decks, talk through what holds up in which room, and put sample patches on your actual walls so you can look at them in your own light before committing. Working out the colors with you is part of the job, not a line item.

Yes. Storefronts, offices and restaurants get done after close, overnight or on weekends so you're not losing a day of business to a drop cloth. Say the word when we quote it and we'll schedule around you.

Service area

Based in Swanzey. Working all over Cheshire County.

If you're within a reasonable drive of Keene, we'd like to hear from you. Just outside the list below? Call anyway — depending on the size of the job, we'll usually make the trip.
